Or you could try Lloyds TSB Dubai. They actually block their cards from working in 100 different countries. You have to call them to find out if the country you are visiting is on the list. Oh and of course, the parent Lloyds UK does not block the same countries.
I have to think that story says more about Greece than HSBC.
