Couldn't some North American newspapers use this kind of advertising? For two days this week Northrop Grumman, the US defense contractor, took out full page ads in The National advertising its E-2D Advanced Hawkeye (that's it reflected in the hawk's eye, if you didn't notice), an early warning, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft.

But who are they advertising to?
99.99% of the readers of the National are never going to be involved in the purchase of an aircraft in their lives.
And even if the UAE Defense minister or whoever sees the ad, is this going to influence him?
The UAE was negotiating to buy some of these things. It seems doubtful that the ad it would influence the decision. Call it an act of goodwill to buy big ads in the state-controlled media!
