While I wish I was on Blue Sea Lake at the moment, having a Steam Whistle and watching gentle lake waves from the dock, I'm here in extremely sandy Abu Dhabi. This is the flag I keep on my desk. Feeling a bit wistful and far from home when I woke up today I went on a (positive) Twitter rant about all the things I miss about Canada. I have reproduced it in its entirety after the jump. Feel free to add your own in comments. (Also, if you'd like, follow me on Twitter @ammcq)

Hello Ann Marie,
I found your blog while researching our move to AD (Aug. 2011 ~ a great time to arrive). I identify with so many of your reasons to miss Canada.
Esp. Timmy's, rolling SW ON fields (my Granny's family farm is one of them), cottages on the shores of sparkling water and many more. Thank you for your window into what our next adventure might be like and what we will miss from home. PS. we are currently living in Belgium, which we will miss as well.
Don't worry about arriving in August. You will see the worst and before you know it the weather will be awesome! All the best with your move.
